Q: What initially interested you in Edmond Mobile Meals?

A: I have always enjoyed serving my community and volunteering in all capacities. My past volunteering experiences have always revolved around my daughters’ and their school and sport activities.  My youngest child is now in high school where there are less volunteer opportunities. I was looking for a new volunteer opportunity when I read an article about Edmond Mobile Meals in a local magazine. All of the different volunteer opportunities and their commitment to the community are what drew me to this organization.

Q: What do you enjoy most about serving with our organization?

A: I enjoy being able to make a difference in people’s lives. I also enjoy working with the staff and other volunteers. Everyone is always so friendly and helpful.  It’s wonderful to volunteer in an organized and happy environment.  There is a great sense of accomplishment when our team completes a meal and sends it off to be delivered to a home bound client.

Q: If you were stranded on an island and could only bring 3 things with you, what would they be?

A: If I were stranded on an island, I would bring my family and dog (life would not be the same without my loved ones!), books, and sunscreen.

Q: Why do you think it’s important to serve the community you live in?

A: It is important to serve our community because it makes our community a better place to live.  Through simple actions, we can make a great impact in other people’s lives.  Not everyone has a happy story and may need some help to get back on track or to function in life.  Serving our community provides a rewarding sense of accomplishment and pride.
