EMM Volunteer, Jan Allen

Posted on 06/02/2015

Jan Allen is our June volunteer of the month and we couldn't be happier to have Jan as part of our Board of Directors, delivering meals and working in the kitchen. She is such a positive person and has a great time no matter what she's doing.

Jan AllenQ: How did you find out about Mobile Meals?
A: I found out about mobile meals from Kerry Guinn. She asked me to cook as a volunteer at one time and then recommended me for the board. I had no idea about the organization until she asked me to get involved. I love the people we serve and all the people I volunteer with.

Q: What do you enjoy most about serving with our organization?
A: When I cook I love the process of making the meals with my "team". And Toni is the most wonderful of leaders. When I drive I love seeing the people we deliver to and ask how they are feeling or how their day is going. They are the sweetest people and it makes me feel great knowing they have a meal that day. :) the board members are fun and caring and I love serving on the board and helping to hopefully make a difference in our community.

Q: What is your favorite meal to make for your family?
A: My favorite meal for my family is grilling out and many veggies.

Q: If you were stranded on an island and could only bring 3 things with you, what would they be?
A: If stranded on an island I would bring my bible, hubby (most resourceful person) and a coat.. (Always cold).

Q: Have there been any funny stories while you were working in the kitchen or delivering?
A: I can't remember any funny stories lately however I'm usually assigned the non-cooking jobs because I'm not really that good of a cook! 😊

Q: Why do you think it’s important to serve the community that you live in?
A: I love Edmond and think it is so important to serve the community you live in. This makes the community a better place to live, raise kids and fellowship with our neighbors.
