Karen Stephens:

Q: What initially interested you in Edmond Mobile Meals?

After retiring from teaching I wanted to find something that I could do that would help others.  Mobile Meals was a perfect fit for me and it allowed time each week with a dear friend.  Who could ask for anything more!

Q: What do you enjoy most about serving with our organization?

The people that work with Mobile Meals are always friendly and helpful.  It is also great getting to meet so many wonderful people that are on our routes.

Q:  If you were stranded on an island and could only bring 3 things with you, what would they be?

A fishing pole (I don’t think Mobile Meals would deliver to the island); matches (I don’t care for sushi); and the book Cast Away (I could get some pointers from Tom Hanks).

Q: Why do you think it’s important to serve the community you live in?

I think the best communities are those where everyone works together in any way they can.  It is said that, ”It takes a community to raise a child.”  I feel that it takes individuals working together and helping one another to build a strong community.

 Judy Daniel:

Q: What initially interested you in Edmond Mobile Meals?

I delivered mobile meals many years ago when my children were young as it was a very worthwhile volunteer job that I could do with my kids.  Now I am mostly retired and wanted to find something worthwhile that my friend, Karen, and I could do together besides eat and shop!  We decided to volunteer with mobile meals.  We started volunteering twice a month, but enjoyed helping these senior citizens so much that we now deliver meals weekly.

Q: What do you enjoy most about serving with our organization?

We are truly appreciated by the staff.  The staff is always upbeat and happy, but most of all they always have coffee and delicious cookies for hungry volunteers.

Q:  If you were stranded on an island and could only bring 3 things with you, what would they be?

I'm thinking these 3 things would be 3 friends!!

Q: Why do you think it’s important to serve the community you live in?

There are so many people in need in our community and this is just a small way of helping.  But each and every time we volunteer, we feel so appreciated by these clients that we gain just as much as them.
