Kathy Wallis is a dedicated meal preparation volunteer and local attorney who is also the newest member of the Board of Directors at Edmond Mobile Meals. Thank you Kathy for all the time you spend volunteering at EMM, and welcome to the Board!

Q: How long have you been volunteering at EMM?

A: Since December 2011.

Q: What initially interested you in Edmond Mobile Meals?

A: A friend from church asked me to cook with her.  It sounded like a great idea.  My friend isn't able to volunteer anymore, but I'm still here.

Q: What do you enjoy most about serving with our organization?

A: Besides being fun and getting to hang out with great people, EMM provides a greatly needed service for those of all ages who can't get out.

Q:  If you were stranded on an island and could only bring 3 things with you, what would they be?

A: A fully charged satellite phone would be great!  Besides that probably a Bible to remind me that God is still in control even when I'm stranded on an island, and a really sharp knife.

Q: Why do you think it’s important to serve the community you live in?

A: Community is the foundation of our society.   By serving in our community it gives us the opportunity to connect with people we might not otherwise ever interact with and it provides a sense of self awareness.  Whether we realize it or not, we all "take" from our community and have a certain responsibility to give back in some manner.  I believe that service can can be a remedy for a lot of the ailments that exist in us individually and in our society.
