Project 66 Partnership

Many older adults struggle with hunger and isolation. Over half of adults aged 60 and older reported at least one unmet need. The pandemic exacerbated these issues and has increased the need for assistance to fill the gaps. Even pre-pandemic, many seniors faced challenges paying for housing and other necessities, in addition to food.

Across the country, Meals on Wheels programs have adapted services and developed community partnerships to make sure that the nutritional needs of seniors are being met. Here in our community, Edmond Mobile Meals has partnered with a local food bank, Project 66, to make sure that no senior goes hungry in Edmond!

Project 66 provides monthly supplemental grocery bags with non-perishable foods for over 10% of Edmond Mobile Meals vulnerable clients. These individuals are at the highest risk of malnourishment and food insecurity.  These groceries help fill the gap at a time when so many homebound seniors need help to meet their daily dietary needs.

If you are a client of Edmond Mobile Meals and would like to receive a supplemental grocery bag once a month, please contact the office at 405-341-3111, or email: info@edmondmobilemeals.org
